Echoes of My Clan: A Gypsy's Story
With her novel Echoes of my Clan, Rocío Vargas Herrera has managed to clarify many doubts about the feelings and way of thinking of the Gypsies. Her agile, eloquent and easy to read pen takes us by the hand through the experiences and sufferings of the main character; first as a girl who must live in the world of non-Gypsies, away from her clan, and then as an adult woman during the terrifying times of the Second World War, including the repressive era of Franco in Spain.
Their indomitable character and sense of responsibility shape their path and catch us from the beginning. It is an interesting, dynamic, entertaining novel that is worth reading.

Con su novela "Echoes of my Clan", Rocío Vargas Herrera ha logrado aclarar muchas dudas sobre los sentimientos y manera de pensar de los gitanos. Su pluma ágil, elocuente y fácil de leer, nos lleva de la mano a través de las vivencias y sufrimientos del personaje principal; primero como una niña que debe ambientarse en el mundo de los blancos o gachos, y como mujer adulta durante los terroríficos tiempos de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, incluida la época represiva de Franco en España.
Su carácter indomable y su sentido de responsabilidad dan forma a su camino y nos atrapan desde el principio. Es una novela interesante, dinámica y entretenida que vale la pena leer.
